Partners in Learning Child Development and Family Resource Center, a 501(C)3 non-profit organization, has acquired the Rowan Medical Child Development Center program on the Novant Health campus. We will take over the operation on October 1, 2016. It will be called Partners In Learning at Novant.
The mission of Partners in Learning is to model the highest quality, learning environment that stimulates families and the community to provide optimal growth and development of children. Our vision is that families and the community will have the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute significantly to the optimal growth and development of children. We are thrilled to be able to expand our mission and vision to the children and families at Rowan Regional. What does this mean for PIL at Catawba? It means that children currently on our waitlist will have a better chance of getting in sooner. Higher quality early care and education for more children and additional professional and growth opportunities. It also means a promotion for Deborah Howell, Ashlee Hawkins, and Emilie Scharf. Emilie will become the new director at PIL Novant. Norma Honeycutt will continue as the Executive Director for the entire organization.
Deborah Howell, M.Ed. will move up to be the director at Partner In Learning. She has been a member of the Partners In Learning family since 2005. Her education includes an AAS degree from Rowan Cabarrus Community College in Early Childhood Education and a Bachelors Degree from UNCG in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Birth-Kindergarten.
Ashlee Hawkins will become the assistant director. She has been a member of the Partners In Learning family since 1999. She has an AAS degree from Rowan Cabarrus Community College in Early Childhood Education and is currently working towards her Bachelor’s Degree at Catawba College.
Emilie Scharf will become the director at Partners in Learning at Novant. She has an AAS degree from Stanly Community College in Early Childhood Education and is currently working towards her Bachelor’s Degree at Catawba College.
