What to do with kids during the summer?

Can you believe that summer is right around the corner! With that said we as parents can hardly wait for the new school year to start because after two weeks of being out of school our children become bored at home! What is a parent to do?

How can we keep them busy without leaving academics hanging? I have done a bit of research on Pinterest and there are endless ideas of how to keep our school age children going during the summer.

One of my most favorite pins that I found was creating a summer schedule for weekly activities. An example form overthebigmoon.com was to label each day with a theme, the following are what I found.  Monday was labeled as make something Monday, Tuesday was take a trip Tuesday, Wednesday was wet and wild Wednesday, Thursday as thinking Thursday, and lastly Friday as fresh and fun Friday.

There are endless possibilities under these themes because you can take it and expand the opportunity for leaning without any limitations. An easy idea I would do for Thinking Thursday could be going to the local library and researching a topic that we know nothing about. Another awesome idea I found was posting the BORED sign up as a visual for the children.

When a child comes to you and tells you that they are bored you can ask them and guide them with these questions “have you…ImBoredFrontCover-300
