SALISBURY — Partners In Learning announced its 9th Annual Just As I Am Fashion Show earlier this week.  A release from the organization described the event as an uplifting event honoring the unique personalities and talents of children with diverse needs.  The anticipated fashion show will take place on Sept. 4, at 6:30 p.m. at Partners In Learning at the Woods in the SECU Clinical and Family Services Wing.
“This show is more than just fashion — it’s a celebration of individuality, courage and community,” Executive Director Norma Honeycutt said. “Each model has their own story, and the runway gives them a chance to shine in a way that inspires everyone in the room.”  The theme, “Just As I Am,” highlights individuality and self-expression, with a diverse group of models showcasing stylish outfits and accessories that reflect their personalities.   “The magic of this event is the confidence you see on the faces of our models,” Clincial Director Cassie Karriker said. “For many, this is a moment of empowerment — an opportunity to be celebrated exactly as they are, surrounded by a cheering community.”
Attendees will enjoy an evening of fashion, music and entertainment while supporting programs that make a lasting difference. By supporting this event, you help bring Dr. Shirley P. Ritchie’s legacy to life through Early Learning Centers. Every dollar raised provides children and families with access to inclusive education, therapy services, adaptive tools, classroom materials and the support they need to thrive.   This year’s Just As I Am Fashion Show will be hosted by Salisbury’s own Jonathan Wallace, a local talent known for his performances in movies, commercials and onstage with Lee St. theatre and the Historic Salisbury Foundation.  As a parent of a Partners In Learning child, Wallace brings a personal connection to the cause.
“This event fills the room with joy, pride and love,” Wallace said. “It’s impossible to leave without being inspired.”  “Having grown up in Salisbury, I’ve continually seen the generous hearts of this community,” Board Chair Celia Jarrett said. “Whether it’s coming together to ensure the elderly are fed, the veterans are housed or we have community parks for all to enjoy, I am proud to live in a community that supports the well-being of all. Partners In Learning has faithfully modeled what a just and inclusive community looks like. Caring for all families to ensure our children will thrive. There is no better investment than supporting the education of our children and their families.”   In addition to the runway show, guests can bid in an online silent auction featuring a variety of items and baskets, including a local artist showcase, unique family experiences, and many more surprises! The auction went live on Friday, and will close at 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 4, so don’t miss out on these great opportunities.  Be sure to create your account before you bid by visiting https://www.32auctions.com/25JustAsIAm   “Through this auction, I hope participants discover something truly special — an item that celebrates the talent and diversity of our community — while also making a lasting difference in the lives of the children we serve,” Development Director Katelin Rice said.
