Partners In Learning marked its 30th anniversary on Saturday with The Art of Inclusion: A 30-Year Celebration, held in the Crystal Peeler Lounge at Catawba College. Taking inspiration from the Met Gala, guests arrived in bold, colorful looks to celebrate three decades of inclusive early care and education in the community.

The evening featured the annual “Just As I Am” Fashion Show, which honors the memory of Jacob Usher, a PIL alum whose joy and love of life inspired the event. Each year, the show gives children and families the chance to take the runway, celebrate who they are, and raise community awareness about the value of supporting families.

Board Chair Celia Jarrett, whose mother, Dr. Shirley Ritchie, founded Partners In Learning, reminded guests that what makes PIL special isn’t a building. It’s the people who show up for our children every day.

Proceeds from the event support inclusive early childhood education, family support, and mental health services for children and families across our community.
